New bird form

Most of the information on the New Bird Form is self explanatory.

Nickname - this will appear as the label for the thumbnail for this bird. If you find the bird data from the database before you provide a nickname then the English name for the bird will be copied to the nickname.

Date and time - will initially be the current date and time, after selecting a photograph it will change to the date and time the picture was taken.

The microphone and speaker icons are used to create and listen to audio notes. An audio note is used to create an entry for a sighting in the field where you might record the name of the bird you are observing. At the same time as the audio note is created the current GPS position is logged.

Tap the microphone icon to start recording - the microphone icon will turn red to remind you that recording is in progress.
Tap the microphone icon a second time to stop recording - the microphone icon will turn amber to remind you that you that there is a recording associated with the photograph.
Tap an amber microphone to delete an audio recording.

Tap the speaker icon to listen to the a recording.

When providing a location be consistent - for example you might always enter locations as:

Country. Town or district.

This will ensure that sorting the gallery by location gives meaningful result. Note that when creating a number of new entries the location of a new entry will initially have the same location as the previous entry.

Tap Acquire GPS to get your current GPS position.

Tap Bird Data to search for the bird data in the World bird list.
